National Leadership Conference
In July of 2000 State FBLA Competition winners, State FBLA Officers, and Advisors from all parts of Oklahoma and the nation had the opportunity to attend FBLA's National Leadership Conference. Held in super sunny California, the environment was perfect for encountering new experiences, meeting new friends, and having a great time. Three went from NETC. Trey Gibbs went as a state officer, Jesse McCombs went to compete in Accounting I, and Ms. Phelps went as an advisor. With great guest speakers, workshops, and extracurricular activities, the 2000 NLC was a great experience for all that attended.
Parli-Pro Workshop
At a special joint meeting in September, Sue Botts, former state PBL President and local PBL President, conducted a Parliamentary Procedures Workshop. Using a PowerPoint presentation she explained the basics of parli-pro. By the end of the workshop, we understood Parliamentary Procedures a little better.
On Saturday, September 30, officers from the morning and afternoon classes along with Oaks FBLA went to the FLC at Union High School in Tulsa. The keynote speaker was Josh Breechan, a former state FFA president and present OSU student. We all had officer leadership sessions and came away with valuable ideas for our projects. After the conference, we went to the mall and then home.
Installation
Installation was held on October 26, 2000. Along with the NETC FBLA and PBL chapters were several surrounding schools. They included Colcord FBLA, Kansas FBLA, and Oaks FBLA. Charles Longenbaugh was the guest speaker for the night. State FBLA V.P. Trey Gibbs and State PBL V.P. Florence Crockford installed all the officers, and the chapter presidents installed their members.
